"I really enjoy the working dynamics between students and staff in ECO."
Kiernan graduated from UC Davis with a Bachelor's in Environmental Sciences and Management, with an emphasis on natural resource management. During her undergraduate years, she met Energy Manager, Joshua Morejohn, through an Energy Policy course. Joshua had presented an energy dashboard idea for the Energy Conservation Office, and Kiernan began volunteering to jumpstart the project. She officially began interning at ECO Fall quarter of her senior year.
Her first project at ECO was to develop the Campus Energy Education Dashboard. From there she wanted to increase energy awareness and feedback, which led to TherMOOstat and Trim the Waste. Kiernan is always looking for ways to work with the campus community and bring new ideas to the team.
Most Memorable ECO Moment:
"When TherMOOstat was first released, it was only on MyUCDavis as a tile. We were unsure of how the tool would be received by students; however, we were lucky TherMOOstat was popular after its first launch! It was so exciting seeing all of the comfort feedback coming in from students and staff across campus."
Favorite Thing About ECO:
"Everyone in this office is very driven by their work, but I really like how this drive is counterbalanced by a good sense of humor."
What do you love about UC Davis?
"I love the adrenaline of going through a bike circle and not knowing what's going to happen."
