Are You Ready to Help Us Trim the Waste?
Trim the Waste is your chance to contribute to the energy saving efforts here at UC Davis! Our goal was to create a program that anyone can use, whether you're an energy newbie or nerd. Join Joules the Cow in a four-step program to learn what energy waste looks like, how to report it, and more.
Completing the Trim the Waste program not only earns you the title of Campus Energy Champion- it earns you a T-shirt from Joules! Be sure to submit the form at the end of each post so we can keep track of your progress and reward you upon your completion!
Let's get started.
Each building is larger than your average residential home, so campus energy use adds up quickly!
What’s more, the number of buildings and students on campus has steadily increased each year. Despite this growth, we’re proud to say we’re using less energy today than we were 20 years ago!
The decrease in energy use at UC Davis is due to a combination of:
- addressing how our whole campus uses energy and
- how each building uses energy.
UC Davis Facilities Management works hard to implement extensive energy conservation measures in our buildings and at our Central Heating and Cooling Plant.
Now we’re turning to you. We need the help and insights from people working and studying in the buildings we take care of: let’s start trimming campus energy waste together.
To move forward, all you have to do it complete the survey at the end of each level of Trim the Waste. The questions will assess your campus energy knowledge, and help us understand your buildings better! Upon completion of the final level, you'll become an energy champion and have earned your T-shirt from Joules the Cow!
It’s time to check in:
How much do you know about energy waste?
Great job! Looks like you're ready for the next level.
